About Me

About Me

Hi, I’m Clare How. I teach singing, piano and music theory from my home studio in Wilson, W.A. Past students have been accepted into Music at UWA and WAAPA and have been prize winners at many eisteddfods and festivals, but I also have had considerable success teaching students who are classified as “tone deaf” to sing in tune. In addition, I love teaching students who want to sing more effectively in community choirs, play piano for pleasure or learn to decipher music.

I have 30 years of experience as a primary school classroom music teacher, peripatetic high school voice teacher and choir director in private schools, as well as the Education Department of WA. Alongside this, I have run a private music practice, teaching voice, piano and music theory, as well as helping professional teachers with vocal lessons and general advice. I am registered with the Teacher’s Registration Board of WA, have a Working With Children card and am a member of ANATS (Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing).

I have sung professionally in a number of vocal consorts, including gigs for the Perth International Arts Festival, the Arts Council of WA, the WA Art Gallery, the Fremantle Arts Centre, the University of WA and the Hole in the Wall Theatre.

My lessons are sequential, student-focussed, in a relaxed atmosphere and, above all, fun! I am passionate about music and love teaching.
